This Saturday Matilda the Musical celebrated an extraordinary milestone – welcoming its ONE MILLIONTH audience member to the production!
To mark the occasion, Perth’s Crown Theatre was transformed into a dazzling sea of lights as the audience helped shine a light on our favourite Maggot and surprised one millionth ticket holder! Congratulations to Emily Stone who is pictured here with performers Lucy Maunder (Miss Honey) and Marika Aubrey (Mrs Wormwood).
This significant milestone marked the end of a highly successful week for Matilda the Musical.
On Monday night Matilda received eight awards at the 34th Annual Green Room Awards, including Best Production of a Musical. The show also took home best lighting, set, costume and sound design, best direction (Matthew Warchus), best music direction/supervision (Stephen Amos), and the Betty Pounder Award for Excellence in Choreography (Peter Darling) in the Music Theatre category.
Then on Thursday night the AKA Matilda team, along with Louise Withers & Associates and Auckland Live, successfully launched the show’s forthcoming New Zealand season. Auckland's Civic Theatre was filled with over 2,000 guests who were treated to an exclusive screening of 'Matilda & Me' - a documentary on the Australian debut of the global smash hit stage show, and its composer Tim Minchin.
Matilda the Musical is currently showing in Perth, before moving onto Adelaide and Auckland later this year.
